The Irish Genealogical Research Society’s Early Irish Marriage Index has 54,000 entries in the latest update. It now contains 122,000 names, which comprises brides, grooms and parents.
The Early Marriage Index was the brainchild of IGRS Vice-President, Roz McCutcheon, who made careful notes of marriages mentioned in other records held at repositories like the Registry of Deeds and in newspapers. Over time, other people have contributed to the index which is free to search for members and non-members alike.
Additions to the index continue to be added and we will post further updates in due course.
