The Early Irish Birth Index has been updated and now features 8,605 entries from a variety of under-used resources including the Registry of Deeds, newspaper announcements and grave headstones. This exclusive database is the creation of IGRS Vice-President, Roz McCutcheon. Speaking of the latest update, she said;
“As well as the more usual sources, such as newspapers, census records & memorial inscriptions, these new records include further evidence from the Admiralty Passing Certificates held at Kew and over 500 births from the Registry of Deeds. In addition, a delighted genealogist in London presented me with an exact birth date in 1861 for her Irish-born great grandfather, found in the 1939 UK Register.”
