Some of these have continental colleges have registers which might provide more information on his parents. You may have checked this already? I have the book on the Irish College of Lisbon but that only goes up to 1834. He is not in it. Many Cork boys went to the colleges around Bordeaux; there did seem to be a strong Cork link there, probably due to funding for Cork families. Was there perhaps an obituary in an Irish newspaper? Or a death notice which might be more specific?
