It might be worth looking at the Cork papers in June 1886, when he died in Melbourne or in 1876 when he was appointed the first Archbishop of Melbourne, as it seems likely they would have covered this and may well have given some background on him. He appears to have made a trip back to Europe in 1869, so he may well then have had a write up in Catholic newspapers of the time.
