Elizabeth Newman, who later married Robert Lander Dunn, was baptised 8 July 1807 at St Multose, Kinsale, Cork. I was provided with this information by both the late Allen Crosbie of the Cobh Project and Roz McCutcheon of IGRS. In her baptism record, Elizabeth’s parents are given as Robert Newman and Ann. I think that she may have had (at least) three brothers, Thomas (1798), Robert (1805) and Richard (1812). If anyone knows the family name of her mother and the date of her parents’ wedding, I would be very grateful if these details – or any other relevant information such as the names and dates of her grandparents – were passed on to me.

The Kinsale Church of Ireland registers cover marriages from 1684 so it might be worth trawling through them to see if you can locate the marriage. The originals are held in the RCB library in Dublin, alternatively a transcript forms part of the Michael Leader collection held at the Irish Genealogical Research Society Library in London.

Thanks very much for this information, Jill. I’ll certainly see if i can find the appropriate entry in the Michael leader collection. (Unfortunately it will be a while before I get to Dublin, if ever; I live in New South Wales.)
