This index to the registers of baptism and marriage for the Roman Catholic parish of Ennis (alias Drumcliff), Co. Clare was produced by Australian IGRS Fellow, Terry Eakin. The registers are extant from March 1841 for baptisms and April 1837 for marriages. The index runs to December 1900. It was compiled from the microfilm of the registers held at the National Library of Ireland (Pos. 2472), which run to October 1879 for baptisms and to December 1880 for marriages. The years up to December 1900 were noted through access to the original registers held in Ennis parish.
The baptism index notes dates and parents’ names including mothers’ maiden surnames and the marriage index notes dates and both parties’ first names and surnames. Additional information may be obtained from the original registers. Online, this includes the transcribed registers held on the website of the Irish Family History Foundation: www.rootsireland.ie
