The Irish Genealogical Research Society will be on Stand No 844 at this year’s WDYTYA?Live, which is being held at its usual venue – Olympia, London – Thursday 20 February to Saturday 22 February.
As always, the Society’s volunteers will be on hand to offer free advice to those visitors who have yet to set out on their ancestral journey and to suggest new direction to those whose research has ground to a halt for one reason or another.
If they’re not already members, we’ll also be keen to tell them a little about the Society and how it can help them in their research.
We hope existing members will drop by the Stand, too, either for some research guidance from our experts or just to tell us how you’re enjoying your membership. If your research has been helped by one of our online resources, we’d be really pleased to hear about it. Please do introduce yourself; it’s always lovely to meet and chat with our members.
We also want to mention that Roz McCutcheon FIGRS, a Vice-President of the Society, our Newsletter Editor and the creator and manager of the Society’s Early Irish Marriage Finder, will be giving a free talk on Friday 21 February at 10:15am. Her topic is the Irish Poor Laws and the Irish Poor, and she’ll be presenting it in SOG Studio 2.
If you want to take advantage of the IGRS Members’ Discount for WDYTYA?Live tickets, you need to get your skates on. The last date to purchase tickets at the specially reduced rate is Friday 14 February. You’ll find details in the Members’ Area of IrishAncestors.ie, on the Special Offers and Discounts page.
Please also note that, with all our volunteers working at Olympia, the IGRS Library will be closed on Saturday 22 February, just for the one day.
We look forward to another exciting exhibition, and hope to see many of you there.
