What Were IGRS Members Reading A Year Ago, August 2017?

The Irish Genealogical Research Society is sharing online – free to all  – 2017’s August edition of its members’ only eBulletin, Monthly Research Update.

This time last year our members were reading about these exciting stories and updates:

  • The updating of the catalogue to the Chief Secretary’s Office Registered Papers, held by the National Archives of Ireland. The years 1823-1830 were added to those already online dating from 1818;
  • The launch of a Blog for the Military Service Pensions Collection. The collection comprises applications for pensions, gratuities and allowances for those claiming involvement in the period 1916-1923, covering the Easter Rising through to the end of the Civil War;
  • The IGRS’ own launch of a database indexing entries in the 1775 edition of the Dublin Directory;
  • The launch of Cork County Libraries local studies website, which includes minute books, voters lists, photographs, maps, pamphlets. One year ago the online collection ran to approximately 2,200 items.

These are just four news items noted from the edition’s six pages.
