The Society's next lecture will be given by Steven Skeldon whose subject will be 'Family History Research at the National Library of Ireland'. It will take place on Saturday, 12th November, on Zoom, from 2:30pm to approximately 4pm.
Drawing from specific examples, Steven will showcase not only the library’s highly important collections, but will also provide more practical tips in searching the catalogue and accessing the material.
Steven currently works in the National Library's Family History Service and is a committee member of the Archives and Records Association, Ireland. Originally from across the North Channel in Scotland, Steven’s academic background is in history and linguistics with a particular interest in the evolution of lexis (a language's vocabulary) and it was this interest that led Steven to complete a degree in the area of archives. He has worked for university libraries and local authorities in a variety of roles, including as a professional archivist.
