As reported last year, our library of books and genealogy papers have had to be moved into storage until a new venue for a physical library is found. In the meantime, we are using this opportunity to have our books cleaned.
Some date back to the late 17th c and require specialist storage. One such book, the Phillip O'Brien notebook is a unique document dating from 1757 and shown in the accompanying photo. Our small team of volunteers has been working hard to ensure their safe keeping and to update our catalogue.
We are assessing our holdings which contain amongst other things, important manuscripts, pedigrees and indexes (some of which go back to the 1660's) with the aim to develop digitisation projects to make these unique materials available online.
There are still numerous printed back copies of our journal, The Irish Genealogist, available for sale. A surname index is available here.
