Join the Irish Genealogical Research Society (IGRS) for a special Edinburgh event as part of its 90th Anniversary anniversary series. This is an informal gathering at the Irish Consulate in Edinburgh to meet and connect with members and others and celebrate the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the IGRS. The event will be in the form of a reception to include a talk by author, professional genealogist and current chairman of the Society, Steven Smyrl, who will speak on "From Loss to Legacy - the Irish Genealogical Research Society's 90th Anniversary".
This is an in-person event to be held at Consulate General of Ireland, 16 Randolph Crescent, Edinburgh EH3 7TT.
The event will start at 2.00pm and close at 4.00pm.
Steven Smyrl will talk about the history of the IGRS and its unique place in helping to make good the catastrophic loss of so many records in the destruction of the Public Records Office of Ireland in 1922.
This is an in-person event. Booking is free of charge and open to all but places are limited. Please note that access to the venue does include two steep flights of steps.
