The Society's Early Irish Birth Index, launched in February at RootsTech 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, has now had a further 1,000 entries added to it.
These have mainly come from census records from counties Tyrone, Waterford, Fermanagh and Meath; memorial Inscriptions from Wexford; and Admiralty Passing Certificates held at The National Archives (TNA, UK). The database, which is a members-only collection, now comprises just over 6,000 alternative records for births.
Below is an example from the database of details gleaned from a gravestone inscription which enables one to establish that Felix Murphy was born in Co. Tipperary in approximately 1706. Click the image for a better view.
Have you searched the database? Are any of your ancestors noted? If so, we'd love to know how it's helped. Please drop us a note via the Contact Form.
The Index can be accessed via the Members Area.
Good luck!
