At the Society's Annual General Meeting on 11th May 2024, and later, in a website news item of 12th June 2024 we announced changes to the way members will receive their copy of our annual journal, The Irish Genealogist. Here is an important update to that news.
Unfortunately the publication of the 2024 edition of The Irish Genealogist has been delayed from January to the spring of 2025. We are sorry about this delay, which has been caused by a number of factors affecting the publication process.
However, everyone who was a member in 2024 and for whom we hold a valid email address will still receive a digital copy of the journal in pdf format when it is ready . We have also sent an email to all those individual members inviting them to place their orders for a print copy now. The price will be £20 plus shipping costs, variable depending on location. Please check your inbox (and spam folder if necessary) for this email.
The only way to order a print copy is via the links in the email and there will be a strictly limited window of opportunity between now and the end of February to make your purchase, so that we can know how many copies to print.
If you do not require a print copy of the 2024 The Irish Genealogist, you need take no action at present except to log onto our website to check and update, if necessary, your contact details. Details of how you will receive your digital copy of the journal will be provided when they have been finalised.
Most importantly, the money saved from these changes will be invested in digitising and publishing on the website many more of the Society's unique resources. You will hear more about this at the Society’s next Annual General Meeting on Saturday 17th May, so please note this in your diary (it will be in the afternoon, GMT+1).
