This will be an in-person one day conference, comprising four lectures and hosted in the recently opened Joly Theatre at the National Library of Ireland, Kildare Street, Dublin.
The morning lectures will be:
“The first fifty years: early stalwarts, the journal, the library, and the foundation of the Ireland Branch”
speaker: Julian Walton (Vice President, IGRS)
“Snobs and Scholars: the Genealogical Office manuscript collection”
speaker: John Grenham (author & professional genealogist)
The afternoon lectures will be:
“Quality Assured: Ulster’s Office in the eighteenth century”
speaker: Colette O’Flaherty (former Chief Herald of Ireland)
“Recovering Ireland’s lost census records – census records in the Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland”
speaker: Brian Gurrin (Census Specialist, Virtual Record Treasury of Ireland)
Booking is free of charge and open to all (subject to capacity of venue).
The event will start at 10.00 am prompt, so please arrive early, and finish at 5.00 pm. Lunch is not provided but there will be a break of at least an hour between the morning and afternoon lectures for that purpose.
