Donnacha DeLong is a Dublin-born journalist/online communications consultant now living in London. The great-grandson of Gerald Boland, 1916 veteran and Fianna Fail founder, Donnacha is the current historian of the Boland family.
Donnacha took on the research mantle from his mother and granduncle, Kevin Boland, over a decade ago when he set up an Ancestry family tree. Using online tools unavailable to his predecessors, he has since reconnected with distant cousins in England and America. He also found the death cert and final resting place - in Glasnevin - of his great-great-great grandmother, Eliza Kelly.
He's still digging, trying to find the more distant Mullins cousins, and holding out hope of proving the family story that Eliza Kelly was a first cousin of Thomas J. Kelly, the leader of the 1867 rebellion.
Donnacha will talk about his work and the tools he used to add to the extended Boland family tree.
