At its Annual General Meeting held on Saturday, 17th May, the Society announced four new recipients of our Valued Service Certificate. These were Rosaleen Boardman, Maire Bound, Sharon Hintze, and Paul Masterson. Each has made a significant contribution to the work of the Society in recent years.
Maire Bound has created a most impressive catalogue of the Society's many rare books, and has additionally sorted and arranged our collection of card indexes containing invaluable data noted from memorial inscriptions found in graveyards across Ireland. Paul Masterson has worked alongside Maire in the work on the books and card indexes, providing invaluable help and assistance.
Rosaleen Boardman and Sharon Hintze have jointly overseen the arranging and scanning of the extensive Michael Leader collection of parish register transcripts. In due course, this project will allow online access to this collection for the first time.
In announcing this news, the Chairman of the Society, Steven Smyrl, said "Recognising members' invaluable contribution to the work and success of the Society is important. We value all the time and effort which annually is given to the IGRS by our volunteers. We couldn't operate without it and on behalf of the membership, it is good to find opportunities to say thank you.".
