This database is an index to the names appearing in Wilson’s Dublin Directory 1775, which was published together with two other elements:

  • Gentleman's and Citizen's Almanack compiled by Samuel Watson, bookseller, for the Year of our Lord 1775.
  • English Registry, for the Year of our Lord, 1775; by John Exshaw, Bookseller

The directory is the most useful element for genealogical research and is what was converted to this searchable database.

The publication was similar in form to The Treble Almanac. The Almanac was an annual publication published in the years 1787 to 1837 and had three similar elements.

The search page includes a link to a list of streets and references to the contemporaneous map that was included with the directory in the publication.

Search the database

When logged on the results are returned with full names and links to a square on the map. If you are not logged on the results only include counts by family name.
